Why film bridals?

A new fad in the world of weddings is not only taking pictures of you and your future spouse all gussied up in your wedding clothes, weeks before the actual ceremony, BUT also getting that process filmed. ... why? Before I started making money off of it, I used to think bridal videos were pretty cheesy, and guess what... I still do. And that's the point! You are in love! This is the most significant and public declaration of your love that will happen in your relationship.  I got married four years ago and I always think about the possibility of doing another wedding (to the same man, hehe love you Kal) just because it was so fun and, yes... all about us! Who doesn't love that every so often?  The bridals are specifically about you. Not the guests or the venue, just you. And how amazing you look and how happy you are. You are entering a whole new chapter of your lives, and looking back at your giddy selves kissing (over and over and over), walking hand...

Rustic Romance

It is definitely good luck when it rains on your wedding day. I've said it so it's true :) But once again the weather god's smiled down on us for a bit as the rain stopped for the gorgeous outdoor ceremony and promptly returned once the pictures were finished. Sydnie and Trevor were so much fun and so in love. They have the most adorable daughter and I definitely cried when Trevor walked his toddler girl down the aisle. Sydnie wore a beautiful lace dress (that she bought online!) and was absolutely stunning. I was blown away with the love and support this couple received from all their friends and family (so many happy tears!). After they tied the knot we partied hard in a cozy barn. There were toasts, dancing, games, and the most sweet video put together by Sydnie's mom. Also, instead of a classic cake, there were donuts! How clever! We ended the night with the always superb (and sometimes dangerous) sparkler exit, and once again I escaped without a burn! Whoos...

Manti Wedding

This was my first time seeing the Manti Temple. It is placed on top of a green hill and has a lot of history. The weather was threatening to rain all morning until finally in the last few minutes of taking pictures of Jocelyn and Daniel it came down. They had so many people waiting for them outside the temple you could feel the love and support for this happy couple. They had their reception in the Bright Building in Provo and it was one heck of a party! Tacos, pictures, the most beautiful display of lights, and oh so much dancing! The night was finished off with the most fun sparkler exit. It was a very fun day filled with so much love and celebration.

Park City Bridals

Jocelyn and Daniel were the most fun couple to shoot bridals for! They laughed pretty much the whole time and you could just feel their excitement for their wedding that would take place the next weekend. Jocelyn was in a couple of my husband's psychology classes at BYU and one day asked him if he knew any one who does videos because a wedding she was taking the pictures for was looking for a videographer. He was like "well actually yes, my wife does." I was finishing up my last semester in the film program at BYU and was looking for a way to break into the world of event videography and Jocelyn gave me that opportunity! She not only became a mentor but also a great friend. I have been looking forward to her and Daniel's wedding for months and was so thrilled when she asked me to film her bridals and wedding day. We shot the bridals at Empire Pass in Park city and it was so beautiful! We only had to walk a few yards to find totally different scenery options...

Melting in Fresno (in a good way)

A few weekends ago I got to see my cute cousin Michaella marry Matt, the sweetest most outgoing guy you will ever meet. It has been fun to watch their relationship develop over the last year and on July 29th they tied the knot (and I filmed it)! The day started early with me capturing the princess-ing of Michaella in her childhood home. We then drove to the Fresno temple and got to watch Matt get his first look of his wife to be in her stunning lace dress. The groomsmen were all close friends of Matt and stayed classy with their boutonnieres. Michaella was assisted all day by her awesome sister Maddy (and yes she does model #gorgeous). Her other bridesmaids were her other two sisters and Matt's two sisters and I loved the combination of soft pink with the deep blue jewelry. Every one was a champ while taking pictures because it was HOT. This is Fresno, CA we are talking about, at the peak of summer, mid morning. But honestly, there weren't too many complaints because of th...

Throwback Tuesday

Throwback Tuesday is a thing right? I'm only 22 and already I am losing my touch with what's hip and stuff. Must be a mom thing. Here's a throwback to a couple of months ago when we got to spend Easter with my husbands family in the tiny town of St. Anthony, Idaho. We stayed in a house that has been in the Holyoak family for generations and it was such a treat to see a place where so many of my husband's childhood memories took place. This was our daughter Sally's first Easter. Although she wasn't super actively involved in the festivities, she was able to learn how to climb stairs, bond with her cousins, and work on those grasping skills. Most of my memories from when I was very young come from home videos. Not many of us actually remember what it was like to be an infant, but we all were at some point. Our parents remember that time like it was yesterday. So when memories like this are preserved we can look back and see parts of our lives that we did...

A Proposal in Provo

Graduating from college, moving to a new apartment, and training for a new job have kept me away from my blog for the past couple of weeks, but now... I am back! In the midst of all the craziness I had the opportunity to capture my cute cousin Michaella being proposed to by her boyfriend Matt. When he reached out to me asking me to be there for the proposal I was so excited! Even though I walked across a stage to receive my diploma Friday morning, my mind was focused on making sure all my equipment was ready for Friday night so I could do what I love: filming people in their happiest moments.  Michaella and Matt were at my apartment the other day and seeing their reactions when watching their proposal play out before them was priceless! Michaella's squeal of joy was all I wanted to hear when she saw a key moment being captured forever. That is why I do this. I genuinely believe that the best films are made from real, untampered moments. That is why in this video, yo...
