Graduating from college, moving to a new apartment, and training for a new job have kept me away from my blog for the past couple of weeks, but now... I am back!
I genuinely believe that the best films are made from real, untampered moments. That is why in this video, you will see that for the moment when Matt asked Michaella the big question, I was literally in the bushes. I wanted to leave their memories of this event cleansed from a camera person asking them to "get down on your knee again... no slower... okay great. Now you look happy and pretend to wipe away a tear! Now really cry... cry! This is the best day of your life!!!" Okay I am sure no videographer would ever be that invasive, but I have been at weddings where the happy couple is asked to pretend to throw the bouquet a few times, and then repeatedly walk down the pathway of family and friends trying to seem them off, and it kind of kills the mood... in a big way.
In the midst of all the craziness I had the opportunity to capture my cute cousin Michaella being proposed to by her boyfriend Matt. When he reached out to me asking me to be there for the proposal I was so excited! Even though I walked across a stage to receive my diploma Friday morning, my mind was focused on making sure all my equipment was ready for Friday night so I could do what I love: filming people in their happiest moments.
Michaella and Matt were at my apartment the other day and seeing their reactions when watching their proposal play out before them was priceless! Michaella's squeal of joy was all I wanted to hear when she saw a key moment being captured forever. That is why I do this.

I am not putting on a production when it comes to filming your events. I am silently capturing what is really happening on one of the most important days of your life.
Others are trying to get the best angles, but in my book, an authentic moment that your clients can look back on and think fondly of is more important than a single action caught from epic angles at the expense of everyone's ability to truly live in the moment.
You do your thing and it will be filmed, hopefully without you even noticing. I want to work hard so you don't have to, so that you can truly live in the moment.
