Melting in Fresno (in a good way)

A few weekends ago I got to see my cute cousin Michaella marry Matt, the sweetest most outgoing guy you will ever meet. It has been fun to watch their relationship develop over the last year and on July 29th they tied the knot (and I filmed it)!

The day started early with me capturing the princess-ing of Michaella in her childhood home. We then drove to the Fresno temple and got to watch Matt get his first look of his wife to be in her stunning lace dress. The groomsmen were all close friends of Matt and stayed classy with their boutonnieres. Michaella was assisted all day by her awesome sister Maddy (and yes she does model #gorgeous). Her other bridesmaids were her other two sisters and Matt's two sisters and I loved the combination of soft pink with the deep blue jewelry. Every one was a champ while taking pictures because it was HOT. This is Fresno, CA we are talking about, at the peak of summer, mid morning. But honestly, there weren't too many complaints because of the overwhelming excitement and joy that was in the air. Matt's mom fanned Michaella in between shots to keep the makeup flawless and we all were able to chill in the temple's waiting room before the ceremony.

After the sealing, a family luncheon, and a few moments to rest, they had the party of a lifetime in the gym of the church Michaella grew up attending. They beautified the place with hanging lights and the cutest place settings. The dance floor was hopping the whole time. The taco bar was great (as long as you avoided biting into a jalepeno, which I was dumb enough to unknowingly do), and the music was a blast. After cutting the cake and sharing their first dance, Michaella and Matt changed into matching t-shirts and snuck away to their honeymoon.

It was my daughter's first wedding (which she probably won't remember) and one of the most fun I have been to!

A March Wedding

This couple planned their wedding in a month after knowing each other for about a year and a half, and talk about true love. Their chemistry was amazing and I felt like we were old friends after just a few hours of shooting. I am all about keeping things sweet and simple, and fell in love with how this wedding day played out. After a ceremony at the temple, we took pictures with all the family and friends that came to support them, many of which traveled quite a ways to be there. Afterwards we went to a lovely luncheon at a nearby church building. The couple exchanged rings following speeches given by their fathers. Everyone talked, ate and laughed. The father of the bride presented the group with a video he made that compiled pictures of the two through the years. Both bride and groom danced with their parents to the same song, and half way through the groom and his mom decided to invite his step mom to finish off the song with him. Talk about tear jerking! (I cried almost every...

Why film bridals?

A new fad in the world of weddings is not only taking pictures of you and your future spouse all gussied up in your wedding clothes, weeks before the actual ceremony, BUT also getting that process filmed. ... why? Before I started making money off of it, I used to think bridal videos were pretty cheesy, and guess what... I still do. And that's the point! You are in love! This is the most significant and public declaration of your love that will happen in your relationship.  I got married four years ago and I always think about the possibility of doing another wedding (to the same man, hehe love you Kal) just because it was so fun and, yes... all about us! Who doesn't love that every so often?  The bridals are specifically about you. Not the guests or the venue, just you. And how amazing you look and how happy you are. You are entering a whole new chapter of your lives, and looking back at your giddy selves kissing (over and over and over), walking hand...

Throwback Tuesday

Throwback Tuesday is a thing right? I'm only 22 and already I am losing my touch with what's hip and stuff. Must be a mom thing. Here's a throwback to a couple of months ago when we got to spend Easter with my husbands family in the tiny town of St. Anthony, Idaho. We stayed in a house that has been in the Holyoak family for generations and it was such a treat to see a place where so many of my husband's childhood memories took place. This was our daughter Sally's first Easter. Although she wasn't super actively involved in the festivities, she was able to learn how to climb stairs, bond with her cousins, and work on those grasping skills. Most of my memories from when I was very young come from home videos. Not many of us actually remember what it was like to be an infant, but we all were at some point. Our parents remember that time like it was yesterday. So when memories like this are preserved we can look back and see parts of our lives that we did...
